Surf-loving father and son have teamed up to launch a new Cornish lager. Skindog Cornish Lager has been created by Truro-based Skinners Brewery and will help promote Skindog Surfboards, of St Columb Major, run by current European longboard champion Ben Skinner and business partner Jason Gray. Ben?s father Steve is chief executive of the brewery, which is also one of the sponsors of Ben?s bid this year to become world No. 1.You could say its the ultimate example of synergy between two companies! said Steve. Ben is on the brink of even bigger things in the surfing arena and he is also working very hard at making his way in the business world. This is something we have wanted to do for a long time. We feel the time is right to step up our support for him and to launch a new lager, which we are describing as a session lager that is great for surfers!
Steve, himself a lifelong keen surfer, introduced his son to the sport at the tender age of three. That was on a beach in Jersey where Ben returned in 2009 to become European champion at 24. Ben, who?also runs the Skindog Surf School with sister Sophie and ?brother Jason at Watergate Bay, secured his second world No 2 title in Japan in 2008 with the first of the new Skindog boards designed by himself. Last month (Apr) he won the ASP Longboard Qualifying Series (LQS) One-Star Goanna Pro Tapia in Spain.
Skindog Surf Beer is now on sale across Cornwall in draught and bottles. It is ABV 4..4% and is described as light, clean tasting and beautifully balanced in flavour.
