NFL Power Rankings Week Fourteen: Packers Lose, Stay On Top

The Green Bay Packers and their fans had dreams since mid-season of running the table and becoming the second team in NFL history to go undefeated. That dream ended on Sunday when the Packers were shocked by the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that came into the weekend in last place in the AFC West.

The Packers have held the top spot in our Power Rankings each week this year, and despite the loss, Green Bay remained on top this week. The Packers need only win one of their final two games to lock up the top seed and home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

New Orleans is the team that most analysts predict has the best shot at knocking off the defending champs when playoff season comes around. The Saints won again on Sunday, with quarterback Drew Brees throwing for five touchdowns. Brees needs just over 300 yards to break Dan Marino's single season passing record. The Saints moved up to number two in the rankings after the win.

New England took control of the AFC race for home field advantage when they won Sunday and watched as Baltimore, Houston, and Pittsburgh all lost. If the Patriots win their last two, they would gain the top seed in the conference. New England moves to number three, followed by San Francisco at four, while the Ravens, Steelers, and Texans fall to five, six, and seven, respectively.

Atlanta has quietly started to play like the team that had the conference's best record season record last year. The Falcons moved to 9-5 and kept their hopes of winning the NFC South alive with their win over Jacksonville. The Falcons can move closer to a division title if they can defeat New Orleans this Monday. The Falcons have entered the top ten for the first time this season, coming in at number eight.

Detroit and Denver round out the top ten. The Lions have been one of the best come from behind teams in the league, and they showed their late game poise again Sunday by rallying to defeat Oakland on the road. The Broncos, meanwhile, were brought back to Earth with their loss to the Patriots.
