(Reuters) ? The New York Jets have hired former Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano as their offensive coordinator, the National Football League (NFL) team said on Wednesday.
Sparano, fired by the Dolphins last month when the team was 4-9 and in last place in the AFC East division, replaces Brian Schottenheimer, who resigned on Tuesday.
Sparano had spent four seasons with the Dolphins, leading them to the greatest single-season turnaround ever seen in the NFL by taking over a 1-15 team in 2007 and winning the AFC East the following season with an 11-5.
In four seasons in Miami, Sparano posted a mark of 29-32.
